A Father’s Day to Remember at Tuggers

What an absolutely perfect Father’s Day at Tuggers! Surrounded by family, friends, and new faces, we couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful setting or audience. With the Mississippi River gently flowing in the background and a soft breeze drifting across the patio, it was pure magic. Hats off to Dereck and the entire Tuggers crew who made every detail perfect, from the delicious food and refreshing drinks to their exceptional sound system ensuring everyone, indoors or out, could enjoy the music.

Highlights from Our Setlist

We love crafting our setlists to match the moment, and Father’s Day brought out some truly special tunes:

  • “(Sittin’ On the) Dock of the Bay” – A riverside classic that felt right at home.
  • “The Way You Look Tonight” – Bringing back a jazzy number with some walking bass was pure joy.
  • “I Love a Rainy Night” – Always a crowd favorite, and today was no exception.
  • “Wildfire” – A nostalgic revisit that we thoroughly enjoyed playing again.
  • Debut Performance: “The Word” by The Beatles – We took a leap with this lesser-covered Beatles gem. Thankfully, our groove paid off and the audience seemed to love it!

Special Moments

One highlight was Tom’s beautiful solo performance—he effortlessly hit the high notes and captivated everyone in attendance. And speaking of special moments, Father’s Day itself was filled with personal joys: Tom opening thoughtful gifts, including a cool new backpack perfect for our gig cables, and sharing a delightful dinner and conversation afterward, topped off with some laughs about the classic Steve Martin movie “Leap of Faith”.

A Venue That Truly Cares

We can’t say enough about Tuggers’ dedication to creating a welcoming environment. Their professional setup and warm hospitality made our performance seamless and enjoyable. Seeing families gathered together, enjoying music, food, and good company, reminded us exactly why we love being part of the Pon-tunes on the Patio Series.

Music, Family, and Friendship

Days like these remind us why we do what we do. Great music, good food, and even better company—what more could we ask for? After the show, we drove home in Dereck’s high-tech Chrysler Pacifica, with Malissa entertaining us from the backseat with hangman and other games. It’s these simple, delightful moments that truly make lasting memories.

A Warm, Musical Morning: Bell & Field at Galva Arts Council

Enjoying the perfect acoustics at Galva Arts Council.

What a delightful morning we had at the “Spring in Bloom” event at the Galva Arts Council! The sun was shining bright, doors wide open, and the warmth of a beautiful Mother’s Day weekend flowed in freely. We were welcomed warmly by the volunteers who took such great care of us—making for a truly memorable and relaxed performance.

A Musical Morning to Remember

Our set was shaped by the intimate, laid-back atmosphere and the acoustically perfect room. The Galva Arts Council has one of those rare spaces where voices and instruments blend effortlessly, creating a uniquely rich sound. We tailored our performance accordingly, leaning into some of our favorite ballads:

  • ‘Something’ by The Beatles
  • ‘Wildfire’ by Michael Murphy
  • ‘Slip Sliding Away’ by Paul Simon

We also ventured into new territory by request, playing Bryan Adams’ “Cuts Like a Knife.” Though a bit ragged around the edges, it came together beautifully for the relaxed crowd. One standout moment was our closing performance of “Blue” by The Jayhawks—a song that continues to deepen and resonate each time we play it.

Highlights & Special Moments

  • Seeing friendly faces like Nancy Anderson and Mike Martin, who graciously snapped some photos for us (always great to connect with another PHP developer!).
  • Enjoying thoughtful conversations with Linda, the president of the Galva Arts Council board, reflecting on the progress and vibrant community around this special venue.
  • The lively backdrop of jewelry-making behind the building and a tasty lunch served during our set, adding to the festive yet cozy feel.

Post-Show Celebration

After the show, we kept our tradition alive and headed over to CCT for a quick lunch and, yes, even a glass of beer (no worries—we still enjoyed our usual Cabernet during the show!). It was great chatting with Jason about our upcoming gig in their exciting new Voodoo Room. As we dined, we couldn’t resist popping Roger Miller’s “King of the Road” onto the jukebox for Chad, turning lunch into a spontaneous sing-along!

Looking Ahead

A big thank you to everyone who joined us, making this morning concert feel like a warm gathering of friends. We’re looking forward to returning to Galva soon and exploring more opportunities to share our music with such wonderful audiences.

The Beatles’ “Now and Then” – A Historic Encore for Classic Rock Fans

In an astonishing turn of events that has rocked classic rock fans across the U.S., The Beatles have released what is being touted as their final studio single—“Now and Then.” More than 50 years after their iconic breakup, the Fab Four have been united one last time, as Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr complete a lost John Lennon demo, creating a moment that feels both historic and profoundly emotional.
